About Us

Providing Education in an Inspiring Environment

Our Mission

At SENSES Learning Hub, our mission is to provide education and support for 11 to 16 year olds with social, emotional and/or mental health (SEMH) needs. We believe in the power of creativity, art, and outdoor experiences to engage and inspire our students. We are committed to creating a safe and inclusive learning environment that fosters personal growth and success.

Our independent studio is based within the inspirational grounds of the Yorkshire Sculpture Park.  Students have the opportunity to achieve Arts Awards through therapeutic art and design activities; complete English & Maths Functional Skills and take part in talking therapies.

Our team

Our team consists of highly qualified and motivated professionals, who are all experts in their field. With many years of experience of working together in supporting young people to reach their potential, with our nurturing guidance & support.

Dawn Oughtibridge, BSc(Hons), PGCE, NASENCo

Director

With a passion for nurturing creativity, I've had the privilege of working alongside young people for over 20 years. My journey from Textile Designer to experienced educator has shown me the transformative power of creativity. Supported by a BSc in Textile Design, a PGCE in Design & Technology, a National Award in Special Educational Needs Coordination and qualified as an Arts Award Adviser, I bring a wealth of knowledge to my role.  Having held leadership positions such as Faculty Leader of Art, Photography, Design & Technology, Year Leader, SENCo, and in Senior Leadership, I'm dedicated to unlocking each student's potential by recognising their strengths. Creating a safe environment is crucial for students to believe in themselves and excel academically, fostering resilience for their futures.  Outside of teaching, I enjoy the inspirational setting of the Yorkshire Sculpture Park with my Golden Retriever, Biffy and indulging in rock music whenever I can!

John Fox, BA (Hons), MA, ACCPH Accredited Member

Director

Working with young people has been the most rewarding experience I have ever had in life to date. Every young person has their own unique strengths, challenges and story and I love being able to be a small part of their journey in life. My career and education has already provided me with a vast amount of experience and knowledge. Alongside my undergraduate degree in Physical Education and masters degree in Education, for the last 7 years I have worked primarily in secondary schools within a non-teaching pastoral and SEN capacity. The biggest learning experience I have taken away from my roles is the importance of having positive relationships with young people, if that can be achieved then the results are incredible. Positive relationships are easier to build if the young person likes Marvel films, Manchester United or country music!
