Wellbeing Support

With small group sizes and an excellent ratio of tutors to students, our provision is able to cater for a wide range of students. Our provision is particularly successful with students who are in need of social interaction and re-integration into an education setting, especially those who need or prefer a calmer and smaller setting. There are opportunities for group based and 1:1 independent work as well as flexible and adaptive learning content.

Talking Therapies

For young people, navigating the world they live in is difficult and for some, they require additional opportunities for emotional support beyond parents, carers and teachers. There are numerous reasons why a young person may want to access talking therapies and staff at Senses Learning Hub are experienced in understanding those complex issues. We offer the opportunity for talking therapies to be part of a young person's provision. We feel very strongly that this offer can provide our young people with a variety of benefits.

Benefits to our Talking Therapy sessions:

  • A young person's first opportunity in experiencing talking therapies
  • Bridging the gap between specialist intervention. Nationally, young people are experiencing long waiting times for specialist intervention.
  • Relationship building with trusted adults
  • A safe space to talk
  • An insight into why a student struggles with learning and the mainstream school environment.
  • Learning to accept and normalise emotions and build coping strategies.

Our emphasis is on holistic support meaning that our provision is suited to those with Social, Emotional & Metal Health needs & barriers to Communication and Interaction .

Therapeutic Setting

Senses Learning Hub provides a designated and therapeutic setting for young people to have the opportunity to access talking therapies. In addition to the 25 plus years of pastoral experience, one of our Directors, John Fox holds a Level 4 Counselling Children and Adolescents qualification, which is approved by the ACCPH (Accredited Counsellors, Coaches, Psychotherapists and Hypnotherapists). It is important to recognise that not all young people are ready for this type of intervention and/or is not suitable to their needs. Senses Learning Hub would not offer talking therapies to young people already accessing specialist services i.e. CAMHS.
